Question 2

In our opinion, this Honda Civic commercial is very successful and effective as they carry out the message clearly. It is creative that they use a choir group to perform in this commercial as it out stands other commercials. They hum the melody of the car engine, wiper, car break and other sounds made by the new Honda Civic are so fine as if it is real. Other than that, they did not utter a single word throughout the whole commercial, only sound effect was done. This commercial allows the consumers to know the quality of the car without testing it. Just by listening to the sound made by the car, one can identify whether it is a good or bad car. Although this 2-minutes commercial is short, but it is meaningful as they manage to show out every parts and sounds made by the new Honda Civic. We believe that this commercial will certainly attract the attentions from all the car lovers especially those that are interested in Honda vehicles. As Honda's slogan said, It gives us 'The Power of Dream'.

We are not hiring any workers for our company because we are managing it ourselves and it is an online website.. This will cut down our cost and change it into a profit. A web designer is require to maintain the design of our blog and change it from time to time by following the seasons. This job will go to Carmen as she is an experience web designer. A moderator is require to maintain the whole blog and make sure it is making a progress. This job will be handle by Anita as she have experience in handling different kind of customers.

Our blogshop will be selling second-hand clothes. For example, Polo T-Shirts, Floral Print clothes, Vintage Style, Shorts and many more. Clothes that we will be selling are applicable to all stages of people as there are branded and local brand clothes with reasonable price. Branded clothes for example are Ralph Lauren, Burberry, Forever21, and Lacoste. Local brands that we will be selling are Tropicana Life, Padini, and many more. We will state down all relevant information about our product and shipping fees are require. Terms and conditions will clearly state down all the rules. Meetings can be arrange where payments can be made directly to us (COD – Cash On Delivery). By doing this, customers have trust in us and this will help us to boost up our business. Customers can leave a comment at the comment column for any enquiries and we will get back to them as soon as possible to let the customers feel that we are serious in dealing the business.

Market

Our target customers are teenagers and young adults (age between 21 - 30) .We find this group of customers focus more on fashion and spend quite a lot of money in this line. According to a research done by Cleo Magazine, teenagers spend 33% of their time in fashion and spend 68% of their pocket money in it. Our main competitors will be other online blogshops. As the clothes that we are selling are brands such as Forever21 that can only be found in the main city, Kuala Lumpur, we will attract youngsters that stays in other states such as Johor and Penang to buy these clothes from us. Although we are selling second-hand clothes, we guarantee the clothes are all in good condition and qualities are better than other online blogshop as our clothes are all original and theirs are mainly from China. By this, we can outstand other competitors and conquer the online blogshop market.

Marketing

To advertise our blogshop, we will use several methods. As we are not opening a physical shop, our advertising methods are more through communication. To start a business, the easiest way to promote it is by introducing it to your family members and friends. Once they are interesting or trust in our products, they will most probably recommend it to their friends who are interesting in fashion. Other than that, we will be advertising in famous blogs such as Kenny Sia or XiaXue. We will also make a fan club in famous site such as Facebook as most of the teenagers nowadays have an account in it and they are our main targets. Linking to forums such as JBTalks or LeLong are also one of our method. Lastly, we will be distributing flyers in selected colleges such as Sunway College and Taylor’s College as they have a lot of young students there.

Premises/ Machinery/ Vehicles

We will register a blogspot through Bloggers. Our address is www.clothingparadise.blogspot.com . This will be our main website to sell our clothes. Reasons why we choose to start a online blogshop are because almost 90% of teenagers nowadays are using internet. Other than that, we don’t need to pay any fees such as rental, utilities bill or government tax so our capital are lower. We will use this money that we save to invest more in our clothes in order to attract more customers. Next, we will not hire any model as we will be the models for our clothes. This will save the cost of hiring models. Picture quality are guarantee good and we will display a few clear pictures of the clothes.

Objectives

Every business starts with a main purpose, which is to earn profit. We hope to earn as much profit as possible by selling our second-hand clothes. Some of the clothes that we are selling are sponsor by our friends or ourselves for free or we bought it from a very low price so we can earn more profit this way. Our products are definitely affordable to all stages with good quality.
The five of us starts this business because we have a little dream since we are young which is to be able to be a boss one day. Now, our little dream finally come true and we will definitely grab this chance to assure that it is successful. Although it is just a blogshop now, we plan to conquer the whole online market in future.
So whenever people wants to shop online, they will think about us

Writing Exercise - Report

Reasons for falling sales and the lack of trade
Terms of reference
I was asked by Mr. Ong Chee Meng to write a report about reason for falling sales and lack of trade. This report is needed as soon as possible.
Proceeding
To find out about the reasons for falling sales and lack of trade, I conducted a survey by interview customers as they leave the supermarket. The question asked include :
  • A) What do you think of the quality of our products ?
  • B) What do you think of the range of our products ?

Findings

Based on the interview, I have found that :

  • Majority of the customers thinks that our products has good quality
  • 53.6% of customers thinks that the range of our product are fair only.
  • 47.8% of customers thinks that our staff's helpfulness are fair.
  • Majority of customers thinks that our facilities are fair.
  • Majority of customers thinks we are very good compare to other hypermarkets.

Conclusions

It can be said that customers commented about the slow service in all departments especially at the cashier counter, a lack of cleanliness in the cafe and the toilets were oftens closed or dirty.

Recommendations

I would suggest that :

  • A) Give proper training to all the staffs to improve our service.
  • B) Hire more cleaner in the cafe and toilets so we can clean our cafe and toilets more often.
  • C) Have more range of products so that customers will have more choice and visit us often.
  • D) Improve the quality of our products to make sure all the customers satisfy with it.

Comparison Between Malaysia and Singapore Consumers in Retailing

Malaysia and Singapore are a multi racial country that has almost everything in the same way. But there's always something different in our managing system. There are always good and bad things about a country but how good and bad are they? There are few topics that we will discuss and compare the differences in retailing field between Malaysia and our beloved neighbour country Singapore.

All of us love shopping don't we?But did any of you think about our environment when we did our shopping or groceries at either hypermarket or mini market? Singapore has done a good job in building up a nation that cares about their environment or being eco-firendly. Singaporeans will go shopping with their own bag or we called it the green bag. It saves more money and most importantly it doesn't effect the global warming. While we Malaysians, being the ignorant ones, contributes a lot to global warming. Although there's a campaign launched by Aeon Company (or better known as Jusco) to protect our environment by bringing the green bag for shopping on every 25th of each month, this campaign doesn't seems to be successful as we did not care about it.

When it comes to shopping, almost all the girls will go crazy about it. Shopping is a way to relax and release tension. Singaporeans and Malaysians have different preferable place to chill. Singaporean prefer to shop at places that are air-conditioned and comfortable as the hot weather are unbearable at times. Malaysian are more easy going kind of people. Weather is not a big issue as long as there are good food or bargains available. Night markets are so famous in Malaysia that you can find it in almost every states here. Example of famous night market are Petaling Streets and the Cheras night market which happens to be the longest night market in Malaysia.

When it comes to the sex topic, most people will say it as a very sensitive thing to talk about and will try to avoid it. What's more if an adult shops are open in a shopping mall? Adults shops can be easily found in Singapore and rarely found in Malaysia. It is because Singaporean are more open minded when it comes to the sex topic while Malaysian find it hard to accept it. There are actually no right or wrong but we prefer the Malaysia style. Youngsters in Singapore are more exposed to this so it can go wrong at some time. While Malaysia being the conservative country, it's good to protect our young generation from sex products as it may lead to bad consequences.

Nowadays more and more Singaporeans are using branded goods when they are out for shopping or even at work. It has become part of their life style. Branded goods are easily found at any location in Singapore, for example the most popular shopping paradise, Orchard Road. Most of them prefer to go there to shop because there are variety of choices to choice from and most of the branded shops like Louis Vuitton (LV), Prada, Gucci and a lot more. Meanwhile in Malaysia, you can only find branded shops in the main city, Kuala Lumpur. It is inconvenient to most of the shoppers and that is why some Malaysian tends to use pirated stuff such as LV's handbag or Gucci's wallet which are easily get just anywhere. On the other hand, Malaysian rather spend money on necessary products than buying branded stuff. Although it is illegal to use imitation goods, still there are many people using it as it is a lot cheaper than the real ones and the main reason is because most people are brand-conscious.

Money is the unit that we use to trade goods in our daily life. So, the price of the goods are important to all the consumers. We found that Singaporean are more focused in the quality, eventhough the price of the product are very high. They're willing to spend money on branded bags, watches or even a luxurious car just to satisfied their compelling desire. In fact, these are mostly inessential luxuries. Directly opposite, Malaysian are more unsentimental approach to life. Most of them are not willing to spend the money on luxurious goods. Malaysian are more money-minded as they focused more on the price and quality. They prefer to use the money to do investment such as buying shares to earn profits, rather than buying unnnecessary branded stuff.

We have discuss on so many differences between Malaysian and Singapore in retailing. In conclusion, there's no right or wrong in this but it's the way we look at it. So what is your opinion? Drop us a comment to tell us about it!
